Mini-Review: Fall
I am scared of heights, always have been. There is just something about falling to my death that bothers me. When I went into "Fall," I knew exactly what I was getting into.
A year after her husband dies on a climb, Becky (Grace Coraline Currey) is convinced by her friend Hunter (Virginia Gardner) to climb a 2,000-foot radio tower.
As someone with a fear of heights, all the scenes of Hunter and Becky climbing the tower were anxiety-inducing. I felt my heart wanting to beat out of my chest. I was breathing faster and heavier. I had my hands over my eyes at points. They were many brilliantly shot sequences that gave you a sense of how high they were. It was so convincing that I looked online to see how they shot them; they built a replica of the top of the tower on top of a hill, so the actresses were never more than 100 feet off the ground.
There were a few overly dramatic moments, but the movie was fun, more so than not. It had moments of "everything just seems to go wrong" that many movies of this ilk have. It dragged the movie on a little too long, but it led to some more exciting sequences. I only regret not seeing this in the theater on the big screen.
7/10
Rated PG-13 for bloody images, intense peril, and strong language.
